The 8th of April sees basement club La Cheetah playing host to Italian techno don Lory D. Arriving on the scene in 1989, Lory D was absolutely integral in transporting the sounds of acid and hardcore from the UK to Rome, going on to establish techno label Sounds Never Seen. Sharing the bill is Hamburg’s very own Helena Hauff, who’s managed to fashion a name for herself as one of the most exciting and dynamic producers in the scene today. There’s also support from La Cheetah residents Wardy & Dom D’sylva and a 4AM license.
Slam’s monthly residency sees the Glasgow duo give Tommy Four Seven his eagerly anticipated Subclub debut. With a deep, broody and uncompromising sound, Tommy Four Seven manages to strike that perfect balance between house and techno, hypnotising crowds and giving them a truly engaging dance floor experience; perfect for the confined intimacy of the Subclub. It’s this strict adherence and loyalty to his own sound that has won the Berlin based producer fans from across the globe, encapsulating audiences everywhere he plays.
Tuesday nights at Subclub have seen iAM resident’s Beta and Kappa play host to a variety of world class talent, and the 19th of April is no different as they welcome Glasgow’s very own prodigal son Hector Barbour aka Dennis Sulta to the decks. The past year witnessed Barbour firmly establishing himself within the Glasgow scene, with many citing his Numbers release “It’s Only Real” as their tune of the year. Expect extracts of soul and disco with his own brand of gorgeous melodic techno, Glasgow’s hottest prospect is not one to be missed.
Promising a “fresh and exciting clubbing experience”, DJ, producer, label boss and radio host Darius Syrossian takes his thunderous Do Not Sleep night to the SWG3 Warehouse as part of its Ibiza warm-up tour. The party, which had 12 sell out Sundays at vista club Privilege and a remarkable sell-out season finalé on the Terrace at the world renowned Space Ibiza welcomes a host of talent, including Hector Couto, Josh Butler, Lauren Lane with a set from Mr Syrossian himself.
Friday the 29th sees Animal Farm veterans Quail and Turtle starring alongside Berlin based DJ and producer Dax J. Critically acclaimed, his debut album “Shades of Black” took him and his seductive brand of raw, industrial techno to fabled institutions such as Berghain and Fabric. Playing alongside him is fellow techno heavyweight Truss, bringing with him his own unique brand of mind melting, interstellar techno in what promises to be one of the most memorable nights in the Sub Club for a long time.
Celebrate the May Day festivities with an absolute bonanza of world class talent at Glasgow’s premier techno showcase: Pressure. Joining residents Slam are Adam Byer, Robert Hood, Edit Select, Funk D’Void, Master-H, Kr!z and Ø [Phase]. Despite its relocation from the now sadly deceased Arches, SWG3 has been more than an adequate replacement for the revered techno night, offering clubbers a real authentic warehouse experience. Combine that with the venue’s fantastic sound system, and there’s all the makings for a truly unique club night.
